Acer NitroSense App Privacy Notice
The Acer NitroSense App (in short NitroSense) is designed to collect user performance data directly from the many users of Acer products. We will use that data to improve our products. And with your performance data we can also make specific recommendations to you about your Acer product., such as a useful accessory, an extended warranty or a battery replacement. We collect and process your data for these purposes only with your consent. This document explains what data will be collected by Acer in this regard and how it will be used.
By means of this privacy notice (hereinafter the “Privacy Notice”) Acer Inc. (hereinafter “Acer”, the“Company”, “We” or “Us”) with registered offices in 8F, No. 88, Section 1, Xin Tai 5th Road, Xizhi, New Taipei City 221, Taiwan, R.O.C., acting as data controller, informs you about our practices concerning the data processing that may be carried out by the Company when you activate NitroSense.
Collection, Use of Information and Legal Ground
Once you provide your consent to activate NitroSense, Acer will periodically (no more than twice per day) collect information regarding the performance of your device and how your device works. Acer’s purpose in processing this data is to improve the quality and the performance of our devices and to ensure the best features possible are included in our future products. If you have given your (separate) consent, we also process the data to make recommendations to you that are directed specifically to your device. The legal ground used for both processing activities is consent.

This information could be considered personal data because we can potentially (indirectly) link this information to you. We note that such information is collected automatically, and Acer will not create a specific profile of your habits using the device on which NitroSense is activated. The information collected does not include, for example, the content you view or have stored on your device.
Device-Specific Identifiers
NitroSense uses globally unique identifiers to identify your device (“Device-Specific Identifiers”). The Device-Specific Identifiers are randomly generated and stored in your device. They do not contain any personal information and cannot be used to identify you. Acer will use the above-mentioned information only for the purpose of improving future Acer products and meeting the needs of its users.
Communication of personal data
Information collected from your device will not be shared or disclosed to any Acer partner or other third-parties (such as local Acer entities or processors that process personal data on our behalf) unless as mandated by applicable law.
Linked websites
Recommended websites will appear in NitroSense. Once you click on a link you will automatically be redirected to the website of a third-party who may be an affiliate or partner of Acer. Any product or service that your receive through these links are provided by that third party and not Acer. We encourage you to review the privacy statements posted on respective website for details on how your personal information will be handled.
Security & Privacy
Acer is committed to protecting your privacy and the security of the collected information by a variety of methods, including the use of security technologies and organizational procedures. We protect your personal data against destruction, loss, alteration, unauthorized disclosure of or access to personal data transmitted, stored or otherwise processed.
Processing of personal data
Personal data will be processed in Taiwan, where the Acer Inc. is located. Please note that we adhere to the EU General Data Protection Regulation to ensure your personal data are protected.
Personal data retention
The data will be stored for no longer than it is necessary to pursue the purposes of the data processing described above. Only when we are legally obliged to, or when necessary to defend our interests in judicial proceedings, such as(for example, a dispute, will we store the personal data for longer periods. User’s rights
You can at any time exercise your rights according to applicable laws, including the right to (under certain circumstances) receive additional information regarding the processing of your personal data, obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data about you exists in Acer’s possession, to know their content and source, to verify their accuracy, or the right to request a change or (partial) deletion of the personal data being processed, as well as the right to cancel or limit the processing. You also have the right to receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format and to (have) transmit(ted) your personal data to another organization.
All such requests should be made in writing and send to the email address mentioned below.
Finally, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the relevant data protection authority in your country relating to the processing of your personal data by us.
If I choose to join, can I opt out later?
Yes. You have the right to withdraw your consent at any time by changing the settings via NitroSense. We will remove your personal information from our database(s) as soon as reasonably possible. Please note however that opting-out does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.
Changes to the Privacy Notice
Acer reserves the right to change this Privacy Notice at any time. This may be necessary, for example, if the law changes or if we change our business in a way that affects the way we process personal data.
