Acer Meatless Diet Campaign | ACER ESG
As part of its Project Humanity initiative, Acer held a “meatless diet” campaign in 2023 at its headquarters in Taiwan to promote vegetarianism, which contributes toward lower carbon emission.
The campaign was held in two stages in August and September. In August, communication was delivered online and offline about the benefit of meatless diets for both people’s health and the environment. Acer employees could register and track their diet via the Earth Mission app, which calculated their carbon emission reductions. At the event day, the attendees who showed their app records were treated with a 100% vegetarian meal box, supplied by a plant protein product manufacturer that is committed to earth's sustainability and human health needs. The dishes comprised of vegan sashimi, vegan pork belly, vegan sweet and sour pork, plant protein non-alcoholic beer, and plant protein juice.
In September, employees and their families attending an Acer Family Day were also given vegetarian meals, achieving the goal of promoting sustainability among our social circles.
The most challenging part of the project was to make a complete proposal with 100+ participants in less than two months, from finding suitable food suppliers, researching on meat-free carbon reduction, publicizing the event, and planning the gatecrashing activities, so we had to adjust the proposal and fix the problems very quickly. We were still working on the bugs of the app until the day before the event, and with the help of many people from different departments, we were able to complete the project and meet the KPIs.

Eating more vegetables is not only good for health, but also reduces the burden on the environment. It is a sustainable dietary choice. At the Acer Meatless Diet event, I tried a piece of plant-based meat (the vegan sashimi), the color and flavor were perfect! I also took the Green Quiz and gained some knowledge on sustainability. I am very grateful to the Employee Relations Department for organizing such an interesting event.
