Acer Middle East Wins Arabia CSR Award for Third Consecutive Year | ACER ESG
Acer Middle East has secured the prestigious Arabia CSR Award for the third consecutive year in 2022, winning first place in the Small Business Category and emerging as the sole IT vendor among 1,300 applicants to receive this recognition. The awards, which are considered the Green Oscars of the Middle East, honor organizations that demonstrate exceptional commitment towards corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainability.
The award recognizes Acer Middle East's unwavering commitment to promoting sustainable practices and raising awareness on climate change through an extensive range of campaigns and activities. The company's efforts towards reducing single-use plastic, responsibly recycling electronic products and batteries, and switching to a motion sensor-based office have earned it the accolade. Acer Middle East also takes pride in supporting and sponsoring causes such as the Dubai Centre for Special Needs and the Animal Shelter in Need and involving its employees in desert cleanups and tree plantation drives. The achievement further underscores the commitment of Acer Middle East's top management towards CSR, as well as its efforts towards stakeholder engagement. The company firmly aligns its CSR initiatives with global and regional frameworks such as the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), GRI Standards, and Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes (DJSI), among others.
The Arabia CSR Awards received over 1,300 applications from 1,100 organizations across 14 Arab countries in three languages, representing 43 industry sectors under 13 categories. The awards criteria were based on global and regional frameworks, including the 17 UN SDGs and the UN Global Compact's Partnership for Goals. The recognition not only highlights Acer Middle East's efforts in promoting sustainability but also showcases its commitment towards creating a culture that encourages giving back to society.

Due to desert camping/picnics, there has been an increased amount of plastic waste left behind in the desert which is dangerous for animals like camels in particular. Hence, Acer invited its staff and their family and friends to join hands to clean up plastic waste at Al Qudra Desert.
On its 30th birthday, Acer Middle East sponsored 30 dogs at a “no-kill” private Stray Dogs Animal Shelter and arranged a Volunteering Day at the shelter, taking the stray dogs for a walk, playing with puppies, and giving a much-needed bath to some of the homeless dogs.
