Post-consumer recycled plastics

More than 40 million products use post-consumer recycled plastics in 2020-2023

Acer not only supports the concept of resource recycling, but also actively uses post-consumer recycled (PCR) Plastics in its products.

The Company determines the types and ratios to be used during product planning and carefully select vendors; For products using post-consumer recycled plastics, we ensure that the raw material formulation is as close as possible to the physical properties of the virgin plastic. When necessary, we add strength and reliability design to the product design process to ensure product quality. Users can not only enjoy the same quality of products as virgin plastic, but also support the reuse of resources together with Acer to strengthen the concept of circular economy.

In 2023, 18.8% of post-consumer recycled plastic were used in our computer and display products.

18.8 %

In 2023, our 15” Aspire Vero laptop uses 40% in its chassis, which is an enhancement from 30% post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic used in 2022. In 2024, we keep increasing the use of PCR plastics in 2024 Aspire Vero laptop to 60%, while still meeting our quality requirement. Aside from the chassis, we have applied 50% PCR plastic on keyboard caps. Beyond the product itself, we also applied 50% PCR plastic on the power adaptor. Furthermore, we increase the post-consumer recycled plastics in monitors and desktops to 85%. This is one example showing our progress of PCR plastic usage, and this strategy is also applied on more product lines, including desktops, monitors, projectors, gadgets, routers and the Acerpure air purifier.

Ocean bound plastic (OBP)

In addition, we place significant emphasis on addressing the problem of marine plastic debris. We make use of recycled ocean- bound plastic (OBP) and convert it into recyclable materials. The OBP is used in Ocean Glass touch panels for notebook computers and Acer Vero Ocean Series apparels. By adopting post-consumer recycled plastic and OBP, our objective is to minimize the improper disposal of plastic waste and raise consumer awareness of environmental protection.
